[email protected]Careertimeline is a local-first iOS job tracker — your data lives on your device, not our servers. Below are answers to the questions we hear most. For anything else, email us above.
How do the AI features work?
On iPhone 15 Pro, 16, and 17 family, AI features (Smart Import, cover letters, interview prep, job-fit, resume scoring) run entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence — free, private, and no key needed. On older iPhones, add your own API key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, or Google (Gemini) in Settings → AI Assistants. When a key is used, text is sent directly to your chosen provider — never through our servers. The core app works fully offline with no AI at all.
Do I need Apple Intelligence turned on?
Only if you want the on-device AI features on a supported iPhone (15 Pro or later). Go to iOS Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri and enable it. The first time you use an AI feature it may need a short download. If Apple Intelligence is off or unavailable, you can still use the app — just add your own AI key in Settings, or skip AI entirely.
Is my data private?
Yes. No account is required, and your jobs, notes, and profiles are stored only on your device. We collect nothing and run no tracking or analytics. See our Privacy Policy and Data & AI Transparency page.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Careertimeline Pro is billed by Apple. Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the current period.
Does the focus timer show on the Lock Screen?
Yes — while a timer runs it appears on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. If it doesn't, enable it in iOS Settings → Careertimeline → Live Activities.
How do I back up or move my data?
Because data is on-device, export any job to PDF from its detail screen before reinstalling or switching devices. Optional iCloud sync may arrive in a future update.
Can I add tags to notes?
Yes — open any note in the Planner and type a tag in the tag bar below the title. Tags appear as chips on the note cards and are searchable with the search bar at the top of the Notes section. You can also search by typing #tagname.
Why does the home-screen widget show sample data?
The widget reads live data from the app. Make sure you've opened the app at least once after installing, and that the widget is the "Pipeline" widget (not a generic one). If it still shows samples, remove and re-add the widget — this forces a data refresh.
